Obsidian is a volcanic glass found in areas where there has been a recent volcanic eruption. Obsidian forms when lava rich in silica cools rapidly, preventing the formation of crystals, resulting in a glassy texture. The white snowflake is formed from inclusions of cristobalite crystals.
