Obsidian is a type of naturally occurring volcanic glass and is found in many locations throughout the world. It is an igneous rock that forms when lava cools quickly and can be found in many different colours and forms. 
For many centuries and through different civilisations, Obsidian has long been used and revered as a protection stone to ward off negativity for the body and environment. 
When polished to a high shine it can be used as a scrying tool and can be found in the shape of round dark mirrors for this purpose.
